Course covers top-to-toe CT angiography

One hundred radiographers and students attended a CT conference in Edinburgh in November. This was the first joint MDCT and CT/ MRI Safety Matters CT Angiography event in the UK.

CT physics including resolution, pitch, collimation and strategies to reduce patient radiation were covered before the cardiovascular system was illustrated with detailed slides. It was explained by expert speaker and radiographer Australian adjunct professor Dr Charbel Saade from the University of Beirut.

Delegates came from all over the UK, Ireland and as far as the Netherlands to learn the intricacies of cardiovascular imaging. Discussions followed on ways of minimising contrast to produce best vessel enhancement, all adding to increasing CT know-how for radiographers. “Covering the complexities of top-to-toe CT angiography in a day was a challenge, but admirably tackled by Dr Saade,” said the organisers. “The superb delivery, post-course slides, books, excellent food and venue had delegates keen to attend the next event.”

MRI Safety Matters thanked Guerbet, Wolverson X-ray and Future Medical Equipment for supporting its educational goals to enhance CT practice.
